About Vivid Guide
Vivid Guide is the third business directory self-published by Blue Square Design. After moving to Gisborne in 2003, the owners of Blue Square Design found it difficult to locate local businesses. Gisborne’s location on the fringe of the Melbourne metro area is not well serviced by traditional business directories. Through a desire to deal with local businesses we decided to create our own business directory.
The idea for Gisborne Guide was created in 2004 and we set about selling advertising space and self-publishing our own business directory. We hadn’t done something like this before but our background as graphic designers and web developers meant we had all the required skills to produce the guide. The first edition was received extremely well and was well supported by local businesses. Our plan was always to expand into other areas so for the 2nd edition of Gisborne Guide in 2006 we also produced Woodend Guide.
After reviewing the success of both guides midway through 2007 we made the decision to consolidate them into one directory that could effectively cover all of the Macedon Ranges. We debated the name of our new guide many times and decided that for the guide to be effective it must be bright and stand out from the crowd. Vivid was chosen as the name and a very Vivid shade of green was chosen as the colour for our guide. We hope you like it!
Vivid Guide is primarily a printed A5 size business directory of 72 pages. Supporting the printed guide is this Vivid Guide website with full search functionality. The guide is produced annually with sales beginning in February and closing off late March. M ore information about how to book an ad can be found here.
